Fall Fun!!!

Fall Festival is Friday, October 23rd. Our 3rd grade basket is gift cards. Please visit local businesses and ask for gift cards to be donated. You do not have to purchase these if you do not wish to do so. Last year our basket was a huge hit and we're hoping that it will be a success this year as well!

Next Friday, we will be having a Halloween party. If you wish to bring chips, cookies, cupcakes, drinks, etc, please let me know!

In math, we are studying place value through hundred thousands. This week we will focus on writing numbers in various forms and will look at estimation as well. In reading, we are starting our new theme on culture. The students will be researching various types of traditions and cultures from around the world.

I just wanted to say thanks for those who purchased items from the wish list! This is a big help! This week, we have been working on settling into our routine. We've been completing tests to see where the students are academically. Next week we will take the GMADE test for math.

Don't forget that book talks are due tomorrow. We have been working on weather this week in science and have really focused on the water cycle. Today we conducted an experiment where we made clouds in jars. Tomorrow we will have a quiz on the water cycle. In math, we are working on graphs and just finished up bar graphs today.

What a great class! There's lots of us squeezed into this room, but we've been having a great time getting to know each other and attempting to get back into the routine of things. Don't forget that the kiddos have a book talk due next Friday, the 7th. All they have to do is read a book about an adventure and then give an oral report on it. They do not have to write anything for this project. Scholastic Book orders are also due next Friday.

I'm so excited about this year! I still have lots of items for the wish list if you would like to purchase these for our class. I need Play Doh, small pen flashlights, highlighters, small dry erase markers, and any art supplies (glitter, glue sticks, etc,).
